Kuilima Estates, Kahuku HI Homes & Real Estate
Page Directory: Neighborhood | Amenities | Features of the Residences
With the West portion built in 1973 and the East portion built in 1975, the Kuilima Estates are a beautiful vacation-like gated neighborhood situated within the Turtle Bay Resort. The entire property is surrounded by lush greenery in the form of dense trees, grasses, and tall mountains in the distance, with stunning beaches and the sparkling Pacific Ocean just up the road. Though the Turtle Bay Resort itself is a bit isolated on the North Shore from the rest of O'ahu, this quiet residential and vacation paradise allows people to have a well-deserved break from the "hustle and bustle" of much busier areas like Honolulu.

The Neighborhood
The Turtle Bay Resort is slightly removed from the rest of the Northern O'ahu area, with the majority of the land surrounding the resort being composed of wildlife sanctuaries and farmland. The majority of the land between the coastline and Kamehameha Highway is taken up by the resort's large golf course, which stretches for almost 2 miles along the highway and surrounds the Kuilima Estates neighborhood within Turtle Bay.
For ease of shopping, there is a convenience store within the Turtle Bay Hotel, which can offer some daily necessities and grocery options to guests and owners in the Turtle Bay Resort. However, in terms of other grocery stores and major shopping locations, the closest is a Foodland Farms located in Laie and another in Pupukea, both of which are 6.7 miles away (or about 13-16 minutes by car). In fact, most of the nearby activities are going to be contained within the Turtle Bay Resort, with the resort holding a variety of amenities and restaurants for guest and owner use. This includes pastime activities like water spots (including surfing, swimming, paddleboarding, etc.) and hiking (such as through the Turtle Bay Pillbox hike).
However, by driving along Kamehameha Highway, those staying at the Turtle Bay Resort are able to access neighboring cities and amenities, which include more hikes, beaches, shopping centers, restaurants, and more. Unfortunately, though, major cities like Honolulu are almost 40 miles away (over an hour's worth of driving), which means you'll need to plan ahead if you would like to spend a day in the most populated city in Hawai'i, or you can stay occupied by the plentiful activities available around Turtle Bay and the Northern coastline.
